Induvial race - We are very happy with the results considering the fact that things didn’t go very smoothly during the trip (starting with our initial flight being cancelled). Also the senior girls race had a good turnout with 113 runners so it was a very competitive race.
We had good conditions which helped us enormously. We, Onehunga High School (just two of us) was fortunate to be allocated in a nice central lane (Lane 5) to start. The ground was quite dry and solid despite the rain fall the day before and in the morning.
The race started at fast pace, but we managed to hang on to the top group. Lisa took the lead at the last lap, but was taken over by Boh before the home straight. Sarah got the 11th overall but two runners ahead of her were from Brisbane so ended up taking the 9th spot in New Zealand.

Regional relay - Sarah, the 3rd runner, started as about 5th place (hard to tell) when she was given the baton, but she chased up hard and passed almost all runners in front of her before passing it to our anchor Lisa. Lisa passed one more runner, confirming the 1st place (overall and in the age group) for our Auckland senior girls A team. We love relays. It's a great fun.

We'll carry on training toward the 2024 Mission Estate New Zealand Cross Country Championships in August.
